Graduated from Texas Healing Arts
Institute, THAI, where I studied Swedish\relaxation massage. Swedish
massage is the basis of western massage and is required for state licensure.
In addition to learning Swedish during my studies at THAI, we also learned techniques of myofascial release, trigger point release, pregnancy massage,
chair massage, and herbal therapy. I have also completed 290 hour of advanced
training in Clinical Massage Therapy, CMT. Clinical massage focuses on
assessing the client's structural bodywork needs to address specific postural & structural client complaints and to
relieve chronic & acute musculoskeletal pain. The approach of clinical
massage is to assess the clients body for imbalance of muscles by determining
which muscles are contracted short and which muscles are overstretched.
After the evaluation, various Swedish and clinical techniques are applied to
restore balance to the body. I have utilized this
my clinical massage expertise for the benefit of patients requiring chiropractic adjustments.
I have also completed
training in Lymph Drainage Therapy. Lymphatic drainage is a holistic
approach to promoting a healthy lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is a
complex network of vessels and ducts that move fluid throughout the body and is
responsible for moving toxins away from healthy cells and carrying germ-fighting
materials to cells when they are under attack by viruses. Though fluid moves
through the lymphatic system, it does not have its own pumping mechanism.
Lymphatic drainage is a type of therapy that is intended to help the body
produce a free-flowing lymphatic system.
I graduated magna cum laude from the school
formally known as Southwest Texas State University (aka Texas State University)
with a BS in mathematics and minor in physics.
